Cluj-Napoca, Romania. YAPC::EU, the most important conference dedicated to the Perl programming language will take place this year in Cluj-Napoca, between the 24th and the 26th of August. The event, a premiere for the Romanian IT landscape, is organized by Cluj.pm, the local Perl community and will be hosted by UMF - "Iuliu Hațieganu".
YAPC::EU stands for Yet Another Perl Conference and it's the only conference dedicated exclusively to Perl enthusiasts and specialists in Europe. YAPC::EU takes place annually in dierent locations, decided after a call for proposals mediated by YAPC::Europe Foundation, organisation which also assists the winning Perl community in organizing the event. This year's edition is organized by the local Perl community in Cluj. The event is at its 17th edition. All talks are in English and discuss subjects of interest for developers, QAs, business people, marketers, designers, managers or students. It's the place to hear and test the latest Perl trends and meet the most amazing Perl people.
For three days, guests will have the opportunity to attend workshops, courses, hackathons and talks presented by over 60 speakers.
Cluj.pm - the local branch of the already consacrated community of Perl Mongers - is responsible for bringing and hosting this years' edition in Cluj-Napoca. The Perl counts from Transylvania are 4 years old and managed to gather over 300 Perl enthusiasts in the meantime.
YAPC::EU 2016 is mostly about Perl tech talks, organized in three parallel tracks, but other subjects such as AWS, Agile Development, UX or entrepreneurship are also part of the agenda. So far, over 280 attendees from 36 countries (Romania, USA, Netherlands and Germany, etc ) have registered.
Keynote speakers include Larry Wall, the founder of Perl. Wall visited Cluj once more, back in March 2015, to attend a smaller conference, organized by the same local community responsible for YAPC::EU. He will be joined by Sawyer X, one of the most active and procient Perl bloggers & contributors. Also a Perl acionado, Curtis Ovid Poe, from All Around the World has joined the event as a keynote speaker, ready to share his consultancy knowledge in business and entrepreneurship.
Aside attendees and speakers, companies within the Perl community have also endorsed the Romanian edition of YAPC::EU. Amongst them are cPanel, Booking.com, Evozon Systems or Perl Careers.
