MVP Academy proudly presents its finalists

Bucharest, May 26 2014 - How to Web MVP Academy, pre-acceleration program for CEE early stage tech startups, proudly presents its finalist teams. In between June 2nd and July 22nd they will work together with mentors and experienced professionals in order to develop their products and learn how to take advantage of the opportunities available on the global market.

Tech startups building products in software, hardware, internet of things, mobile, medtech or ecommerce have submitted their application for How to Web MVP Academy. They have been evaluated by specialists in the field taking into account their team fit & experience, the size of the market they address and its trends, the initial market validation & traction, the international potential and impact, as well as the overall feasibility of the product (scalability, customer acquisition cost).

The 15 finalists have been chosen after a careful evaluation of the applicants made by the jury. The judges that worked on the analysis of the competing teams were Cosmin Ochişor (Liaison Manager hub:raum), Zoli Herczeg (Partner Business Evangelist Microsoft Romania), Cristi Badea (Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer MavenHut), Bogdan Iordache (Co-Founder & CEO How to Web) and Monica Obogeanu (Program Manager How to Web MVP Academy).

Who are the teams that made it into How to Web MVP Academy?

15 teams from Romania, Bulgaria and Slovenia were selected to attend How to Web MVP Academy. They are building products with disruptive potential in software, hardware, Internet of Things, mobile, or medtech. The teams that make the first batch that will attend the pre-acceleration program are:

  1. Axo Suits - High-powered exoskeletons
  2. Bravatar - Network of fan communities centered around brands
  3. Complement - Software for educational management, online catalog and personal development platform
  4. Doctrina d.o.o. - Platform that facilitates the product knowledge transfer to all employees in pharmacies in shorter time and lower costs through webinars
  5. Drimm.in - Social platform that allows users to team up to fulfill dreams for friends
  6. Fitter - Mobile app that offers mobile personal trainer experience and connects each fitness studio with his customers in a personal, intuitive and efficient way
  7. Gloria Food - Free online ordering system that allows restaurants to directly interact with their customers
  8. Hickery - Web and mobile music player for extremely social people that allows users to interact and make playlists by looking at the activity they have on social media
  9. Inovolt - Product that combines hardware and software component and allows users to visualize, measure, record and analyze energy generation and consumption over multiple circuits in real-time
  10. Lifebox - Mobile app that allows users to create common photo albums with their friends and thus create shared memories
  11. Pillbuzz - Bracelet set through a mobile app that functions independently and helps users respect their treatment plans
  12. Pocketo - Mobile app that uses hardware components to support IT developers to do faster prototyping for Arduino and RaspberryPi with the help of your smartphone
  13. Qalendra - Travel calendar dedicate to adventure travelers that allows them to get inspired by the collection of events, create travel wish lists and get alerts on upcoming events
  14. StudyMentors - Online platform which connects international prospective students with current students/alumni from European universities
  15. Wallet Buzz - Mobile app that connects retailers and smartphone users while delivering exclusive offers directly on their phones

In between June 2nd and July 22nd, the How to Web MVP Academy finalist teams will learn essential business knowledge that will help them develop their products and go global. Besides the educational component, the startups will have access to the TechHub Bucharest co-working space and the international tech community and they will be connected with relevant mentors, angel investors, acceleration programs and early stage investment funds. Moreover, the How to Web MVP Academy team will work closely with the teams to help them monitor their progress and get access to relevant resources that solve their specific needs.

How to Web MVP Academy is a program developed in partnership with Microsoft, Romtelecom and Cosmote, and supported by Bitdefender, Raiffeisen Bank, Hub:raum and TechHub Bucharest. On June 2nd the teams will start working from the co-working space at TechHub Bucharest and, one day later, they will get the chance to meet the local mentors and find out everything they need to know about the program during the induction day.

During the 7 weeks program the startups will work intensively to develop their products and they will attend workshops and 1 to 1 mentoring sessions. The program will end with a Demo Day on July 22nd when the teams will have the chance to pitch their products and showcase their progress in front of an audience comprising representatives of the most appreciated acceleration programs in Europe, angel investors, early stage investment funds, journalists, entrepreneurs and technology professionals.
